Manhattan Apartment Turned Into A Lush Eco-Friendly Duplex By The Architect Andrew Franz

Andrew Franz Architect, a Manhattan-based firm, has done an impressive transformation at this Manhattan apartment, in which three oddly shaped condos were reconfigured into this stunning single pad and the two terraces were connected to make one pretty impressive green oasis in the middle of the city. The whole interior and exterior design make this apartment a lush eco-friendly urban refuge. Take a look!

The  family that lived in the duplex wanted the renovation to focus on green living. Inside the apartment there are many plants as well as organic, handcrafted features like the large walnut staircase which connects the living and entertainment spaces to the bedrooms on the top floor. To celebrate the family’s South Asian and American background, the design also integrated materials like salvaged walnut slabs, silk wallpaper, onyx, leather and bronze.

From the backyard you also get a stunning view of the design on both floors of the apartment, especially the wood ceiling. This is a green oasis in the middle of the city if we’ve ever seen one.

The green roof garden is pretty spacious taking up 2,800 square-foots and you can access it through new custom retractable glass walls. The terrace has a bluestone floor, multiple seating areas, lawn, outdoor kitchen and small herb and vegetable garden. And the most beautiful part of this exterior space are the views from the apartment that merge with Central Park’s trees in one direction, and the Hudson River in the other.

Andrew Franz is no stranger to orchestrating stunning apartment transformations and this one proves that.
